History
The Met, Leeds was first opened on 28th June 1899 on the site of the Fourth White Cloth Hall. Designed by architects Cannon and Chorley, The Metropole, as the hotel was then known, was the first hotel in Leeds to boast a lift and electric lighting throughout the building. One of the key architectural features of this stunning Grade II listed terracota building was the Cupola on the roof, which remains there today.
The Banqueting Hall, now the Met Suite was reported to have been one of the finest rooms in Yorkshire and still retains its original columns and stunning ceiling plasterwork.
Following a major £6 million pound refurbishment programme in 2005, providing the hotel with stunning interiors, the hotel was re-opened as The Met, Leeds.
