Cancellation and Public Liability Insurance

Event Insurance

There are many reasons that you should look into insuring your event. These include: Cancellation and Abandonment; Public Liability and property damage. These are explained in more detail below.

Principal Hayley is an Introducer Appointed Representative (IAR) of Hiscox. We are not permitted to advise you on any insurance matter. You are under no obligation to purchase insurance from Hiscox and may choose to seek a quotation from other providers.

How can I arrange this cover?

To arrange public liability or cancellation and abandonment cover, simply print off and complete the proposal form, then send it to Hiscox along with payment. Subject to acceptance criteria being met, Hiscox will then start the cover and send you the policy documents.

Please note that Hiscox cannot put cover in place until you have signed the venue contract.

More details on the cover available

· Public Liability Insurance protects you against legal claims for accidental injury to third parties and/or for damage to third party property.

You may already have Public Liability Insurance , however not all business policies cover events taking place outside your business premises. If in doubt you should consult your insurance provider. Please note that Principal Hayley's terms and conditions require event organisers to hold a minimum £2,000,000 limit of Public Liability Insurance.

· Legal Liabilities - this provides financial protection if the insured party faces a legal claim from a member of the public for personal injury or damage to property (public liability) or an employee for injury sustained whilst working at the insured event (employers' liability).

· Cancellation and abandonment – cover for loss of expenses if the event has to be cancelled, abandoned, postponed or relocated, due to circumstances beyond your control. Cover for lost profit is also available as an optional extension. Only when profit is insured the policy is extended to include cover for cancellation and abandonment in circumstances where 85% or more of the expected attendees are unable to attend due to the same unexpected cause that is entirely beyond their and your control, and is not excluded by our policy.

· Property Damage - protection against the physical loss of or damage to property.  Property hired specifically for the event would probably fall outside the cover offered by a standard business property insurance policy.

The Key Facts policy summary document and policy wordings below explain what is and what is not covered.

What sort of events can arrange cover using the pre-priced form?

The form is designed for events that fit the following criteria:

· The organisation running the event must be located in England, Wales or Scotland
