Pre Arrival
The hotel has 167 bedrooms, 4 of which are fully accessible (2 x
twins and 2 x doubles). Whilst we aim to meet the needs of
all our guests there are some period features which might make
access difficult for people with limited mobility. We are located
next to the railway station and close to the city centre.
Wheelchair access from the railway station is at Tea Room Square
and a platform lift can bypass the few steps that we have entering
the building on this side. Wheelchair access from the hotels
car park is via the Events Centre and clearly sign posted.
You can then take the lift to up one floor, opposite the
Jorvik room to get to the reception desk.
The nearest shops are approximately 500 metres away.
The nearest bus stop is outside the hotel and we are adjacent to
the railway station at York, with a taxi rank, although the hotel
can book taxis on your behalf.
Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if required.
We do have standard menus and bedroom information in Braille upon
request and our team are fully trained to help with any individual
requirement or describe the daily table d’hote menu.
Arrival and Car Parking
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can
meet you from the platform or car park entrance and welcome

To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not
normally arrive before 2.00pm. Earlier arrival is perfectly fine
and we can store your luggage until your bedroom is available.
Parking is on a concrete area at the front of the building, and
we request that you check in at our reception. Car parking
for disabled badge users is free and we have 5 dedicated disabled
car parking bays.
We offer assistance with luggage.
A selection of local information, maps, magazines and board
games are available from concierge.
Main Entrance
There are 10 steps which are 6 inches high leading to the front
door with a hand rail on both sides. The front door is normally
closed at night and a bell is provided to call for assistance.

Breakfast and evening meals are served in the Tempus Restaurant
with light snacks available in the Tempus Bar.
We are licensed for the sale of alcohol 24 hours per day to
hotel residents.

All access bedrooms are accessible via a lift, with full ensuite
facilities and dedicated disabled bedrooms. Our beds are
normally made with cotton sheets and pillow cases, and synthetic

wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table in each room, and
additional seating in some of the rooms also.
