Educational Visits
School Trip & Group Educational Information
Rather than spending their leisure time playing computer games
or watching TV, what better way for children (and adults) to have
fun and freedom exploring the great outdoors than a day out at
Hawkstone Park & Follies in Shropshire.
Hawkstone Park offers:
- Intricate pathways
- Ravines
- Arches and bridges
- The towering cliffs and follies
- The hermit in his hermitage
All of which create a magical visit that can last around 3-4
hours.
This great landscape was used as BBC TV's film location for
`Chronicles of Narnia', whilst gardening enthusiasts may recognise
the park from the BBC's Curious Gardeners and Small Towns Gardens
programmes, aired last year.
Also available is an educational booklet, designed to stimulate
children's minds and encourage them to think and learn about
nature, geology and historical events – Wellington was a
regular visitor to the park in the 18th Century as a guest of it's
creator Sir Rowland Hill plus Hawkstone is also claimed to be the
final resting place of the valiant King Arthur.
Why is this venue great for School Trips and Educational
Visits?
We offer a unique site which lends itself to many curriculum
activites for a wide range of age groups. From caves and historic
follies, to the fantastic natural landscape. Our team would be more
than happy to tailor make a package to suit each individual groups
interests. Visit the
UK School Trips website to find out more.
What does a typical school trip or educational visit
include?
Educational visit would be met on arrival but would then walk
the park alone, we could arrange the services of a warden should
they require this. We can tailor a package to meet the specific
needs of the group. For example if they are looking at geology /
geography we can focus on the caves and landscape, for history we
can look at the links to the Hill family and also King
Arthur.
Groups between 10 - 75 people can be catered for. Teacher
packs and work sheets can be provided and will be designed to meet
each individual groups requirements. We would talk to the
teacher/group leader prior to the visit so that we work within
their particular requirements for their key stage and curriculum
groups. Discussions are had with teachers before each visit with
a free visit for the organiser so they can assess how the park
can fit their requirements.
